Our office is right on the ground floor at Andheri East and if you know the area, you know how busy German Bakery Lane can get. It is Office No 2 A and sometimes people have a hard time finding us because we are tucked behind Sahar Roy Apartments. There is a lot of dust that comes in from the street so we are always wiping down the desks and the computer screens. Moving things from one place to another involves a lot of phone calls and checking on trucks that are stuck in traffic. Most of the afternoon is spent looking at piles of papers and making sure the names are spelled right on the manifests. It gets hot in here during the summer months and the little fan on my desk doesn’t do much but move the warm air around. We have a lot of neighbors who stop by just to say hello or to borrow a stapler. It’s a small space and sometimes the boxes stacked near the door make it hard to move around, but that is just how it is when things are coming and going. The tea shop at the corner is where we usually find the drivers waiting for their next route. It is a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing all at once. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some calendars and a clock that runs five minutes fast.
