If you are ever walking down Bhandari Street in Mumbai, you will probably pass right by us. Lucky Kitchenware & Gift Articles is a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. It’s crowded in here with stacks of stainless steel pots, pressure cookers, and all sorts of things people need for their homes. We also have a section for gifts, though they get a bit dusty if they sit too long on the higher shelves. Mumbai is a fast place, and Bhandari Street is always humming with people looking for a deal. We’ve had this shop for a long time. My uncle used to run it, and now we take care of it. Customers come in looking for a single spoon or a whole set of dishes for a wedding. We try to help everyone, even when it’s raining outside and the floor gets all muddy from the street. It’s a noisy life with the traffic right outside the door, but we like the energy. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know us from being in the neighborhood for so many years. Sometimes we sit on stools outside the door when it's slow and talk to the other shop owners. It’s a simple business. We buy things, we sell them, and we try to make sure the customers are satisfied with what they took home. It is a lot of work keeping everything organized in such a small space, but we manage just fine.
