Aditya Clothing is tucked away on the 3rd floor of the Shah & Nahar Industrial Estate over in Lower Parel West. If you’ve ever been to S. J. Marg, you know how packed it gets around here. It’s a real industrial area, lots of noise and people moving things around all day long. Being on the third floor means we get a bit of exercise every day, especially when the lift is acting up, which happens more than we’d like. Our space isn't huge, but we’ve got enough room for the machines and the fabric rolls we keep stacked against the walls. It gets a bit dusty with all the threads and cloth pieces flying around, but we try to sweep up when we can find a spare minute. Lower Parel has changed a lot over the years, with all those big malls and fancy offices coming in, but this estate still feels like the old Mumbai. You can hear the sounds of other businesses through the walls, sometimes it's rhythmic tapping or just people shouting over the noise of their own work. We just keep our heads down and focus on the garments we’re putting together. It’s a lot of manual work, sitting at the tables or standing over the cutting boards until our backs ache. We don’t have any fancy signs or anything, just 353 A/2 on the door so people know they found us and we are ready for work.
