Light Of India Restaurant

Light Of India Restaurant is down on Mirza Ghalib Marg, which many people still call Clare Road. We are in the Shroff Building, specifically Halima Manzil at 52/A. If you find the petrol pump in Mumbai Central, you are basically right there, as we are directly opposite it. This part of Mumbai is very busy and can be quite loud with all the buses and taxis going past. We have been here for many years, and the building shows its age, but that’s just how things are in this part of town. The restaurant has seen a lot of people come and go over the decades. We spend our mornings prepping for the lunch crowd and then it stays busy until late at night. The kitchen is always hot, and the dining area is often full of the sounds of people talking and plates clattering. It’s a local spot where people come because they know where we are and what we do. We don't put much effort into advertising or making the place look like a modern cafe. It’s just an honest restaurant in Mumbai Central. Sometimes the street gets flooded during the heavy monsoon rains, and we have to deal with that, but we just keep going. It’s a lot of hard work, but it is what we know how to do.
