Lift Arts

You can find Lift Arts on the second floor of Mehta Chambers. The building is at 16, 127-A Kalyan Street, right where Nandlal Jani Road meets the Dana Bunder area. It’s a very busy part of Masjid Bunder, so there is always a lot of shouting, trucks moving, and people rushing around outside. Getting up to the second floor can be a bit of a walk if you aren't used to these old buildings, but we’ve been here long enough that we don't even notice the stairs anymore. The office isn't very large, but we’ve packed it with everything we need to keep things running. It’s usually filled with papers, samples, and the sound of the ceiling fans. Because we are near the docks at Dana Bunder, there is always a lot of activity in the neighborhood. It’s not the quietest place to work, but it has a lot of energy. We don't have any fancy showroom or anything like that. People just come up to the second floor, find Room 16, and we talk across the desk. It’s a very old-school way of doing things, but it’s how things work in this part of Mumbai. We spend our days answering the phone and checking on orders while the city moves outside our window. It’s a bit cramped sometimes, but we make it work and keep the business moving every day. By the time we lock up, the street lights are usually already on.
