Laxmi Garments

We are at Gala No. 8 on the first floor of Mahavir Market. It’s right near the Udupi Hotel in the Lok area, which is where most people stop for lunch before coming up to see us. The stairs can be a bit of a climb, especially when we are carrying heavy bags of clothes, but you get used to it after a while. We have been in this spot for several years now and it’s become like a second home. The market itself is always noisy and full of life, which we like. Laxmi Garments is just a small operation. We have some sewing machines and cutting tables squeezed into the space. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when a lot of new stock arrives at once. We don't have any fancy displays or anything like that. It's just a working shop. We try to keep things in order, but there are always threads on the floor and piles of fabric everywhere. That's just how a garment place is supposed to look, I think. We open up early and usually stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. Most of our days are spent just working away on whatever orders we have. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy. We know the other shop owners around us and we often share a tea in the afternoons. It’s a good community to be part of here in this building.
