We are currently based at the Mumbai International Airport project site in Sahar, Andheri East. This is the ECC Division location, so it’s not your typical office with carpets and quiet hallways. It is a construction site, through and through. There is a lot of dust, plenty of noise from the planes and the heavy machinery, and everyone is usually wearing a hard hat. We work out of some temporary cabins that are set up near the main project area. It’s pretty basic inside, just the essentials like computers, some maps on the wall, and a very tired-looking coffee machine. The 400 099 area is always in motion, and things change on the site almost every week as the work progresses. We don’t have much time for small talk or long meetings because there is always something that needs attention out on the field. Lunch is usually a quick affair, eaten while looking over some drawings or schedules. It’s a tough environment, especially when the Mumbai heat kicks in, but it’s where the actual work happens. We don't worry about looking polished or professional in the traditional sense. Most of us have mud on our boots by noon. It is just the reality of being at a major airport project site. We are here to get the job done and see the project through to the next stage, one day at a time.
