We are located on SS Rao Marg in the Parel area. If you know Mumbai, you know that Parel is a major hub for medical care, and we are right in the middle of it all. It’s a very intense place to work because it’s always crowded and there’s a lot of urgency. The building we are in has been around for a long time and has a lot of history. The hallways are long and winding, and it’s easy for someone new to get turned around. We spend our days navigating these halls, moving between different departments and patient rooms. There’s not much time for standing around and chatting. Everyone here is always on the move. The area outside on SS Rao Marg is constantly jammed with traffic and people, which makes just getting to work a bit of a mission every day. We don’t have a fancy lounge for staff or patients. We mostly just have a basic canteen where we can get a quick cup of tea before heading back to the wards. It’s a tough environment but we’re used to the pace. We see hundreds of people every day from all walks of life. We just try to keep things organized and help whoever comes through the door. It’s a no-frills, high-pressure job, and we’ve been doing it this way for years in Parel.
