Our place is called Kejal Art, and we’re located in Phase II of the Peenya Industrial Area, over in Andheri East. It’s a bit of a busy industrial zone, so there is always the sound of machines and trucks moving about. We’ve been here for a while, working on different artistic and industrial projects. The space is filled with all sorts of materials and half-finished pieces. It’s definitely not a clean, white-walled gallery. It’s a workshop where things actually get made. The floors are often covered in scraps, and we usually have paint or dust on our hands. We aren't a big corporation with a board of directors. It’s just us, a few skilled workers who enjoy making things. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most of our work comes from people who have seen what we did for someone else. It’s a slow and steady way to grow. We like the atmosphere of the industrial area because everyone else is also busy building something. It’s a place for people who work with their hands. Sometimes we stay late to finish a piece, and other times we just sit and talk about how to solve a design problem. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy philosophy. We just try to make things that look right and last a long time. It’s a simple approach, but it works for us and our clients.
