Ojas Designs

Ojas Designs is at Shop No 22 in Malad West, right on the Link Road. We are inside the Bhoomi Classic building, just across from the Sabkuch Market. The shop is usually buzzing with the sound of sewing machines. We have fabric rolls and loose threads everywhere. It’s not a very big space, so we have to be careful where we step. We spend a lot of our time pinning fabrics and chalking out patterns on the big table in the middle. The Link Road is always busy, so there is a constant stream of people passing by our window. We get a lot of customers who come in after they’ve been shopping at the market across the street. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most of our work is just custom stitching and making sure the clothes fit right. We have a small mirror in the corner for fittings. Sometimes the iron gets too hot and we have to wait for it to cool down. We keep all our measurements in a handwritten notebook that’s getting pretty full. It is a bit of a messy place, but that’s how it is when you’re making things by hand. We aren't a corporate brand; we are just a local tailoring and design shop. We focus on the needles and the thread and getting the job done by the time the customer comes back to pick up their order.
