We've been over here at the Shilpa Building in Santacruz-East for a good while now. It’s a busy spot in Prabha Colony and we mostly just spend our days dealing with wood and fabric. People walk in looking for something to sit on or a table that doesn't wobble, and we try to help them out. It's not a fancy showroom with bright lights or anything. Just us working on pieces of furniture. Sometimes the noise from the street gets loud, but you get used to it after a few years. My father started this, and now I'm here doing the same stuff. We get a lot of local folks coming in from around the neighborhood. They know where we are. We don't really do much advertising because the shop is right there on the corner. The coffee machine breaks more often than I'd like, and the paperwork piles up on the desk, but the furniture gets made. We use basic tools mostly. Nothing too high-tech. It’s dusty work, and your hands end up with a lot of scratches by the end of the week. That's just how it goes when you're moving heavy things around all day. We keep the doors open so there's a bit of a breeze, even if it brings in some dust. If you're walking past Prabha Colony, you've probably seen us. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders as they come in. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. We don't have a website with fancy pictures, just the shop.
