K E Jawadwala

You can find us at 158/160 Narayan Dhruva Street. We are up on the first floor in Room No. 5. This building is right in the thick of it, and the stairs are a bit steep if you aren't used to them. K E Jawadwala has been operating out of this small space for a good bit of time. The street outside is always packed with people moving boxes and carts, especially in the afternoons. It can get quite cramped in the office when we have a lot of stock coming in or when neighbors pop in to chat. We don’t have any big flashy signs or a lobby. It is just a regular room where we keep our records and handle the day-to-day business. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the old ceiling fan makes a bit of noise, but it works fine for us. We know most of the other shopkeepers around this part of Mumbai, and things haven't changed much over the years. We spend most of our hours sorting through orders and making sure the inventory is right. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the noise on the street below. We keep a simple routine here. Sometimes the mail gets mixed up with the office next door, but we sort it out. It’s just how things go in an old building like this one. We keep a stash of biscuits for when the afternoon slump hits us.
