Our office is tucked away at No 179 Samuel Street, specifically in Khoja Galli. If you come to Narsey House, you have to head up to the first floor and look for Room No: 2 in the Vadgadi area. We are right above Nandu Plastics, so that’s a good landmark to look for if you’re getting lost in the narrow streets. Jupiter Chemical Co. has been operating out of this room for years. It’s a busy part of the city, and the lanes are always full of people moving goods back and forth on handcarts. The building is old and has that specific smell of dust and old paper. Inside our room, things are a bit tight because we have to keep a lot of records on hand. We have a couple of old wooden cupboards that are packed to the brim. The light coming in from the window is often blocked by the buildings across the alley, so we keep the overhead lights on most of the day. It’s a very traditional way of working, right in the heart of the commercial district. We see the same faces every day, and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We just keep our heads down and focus on the chemical trade. It’s hard work and the hours can be long, but being in such a lively area makes the time go by faster. We’re just a small part of the big machine here. I remember when we first moved in, the stairs were a real pain, but you get used to it after a few months.
