Jovita Boutique

Jovita Boutique is found in Ghatkopar West, right at 17th Cross on 26th Main, Phase VI in Guru Nanak Nagar near Guru Govind S. It is a small shop tucked away from the main busy streets. When you walk in, you’ll usually see piles of different fabrics and scraps of lace on the tables. It is not a place that looks like a high-end mall store. It is more of a working space where we spend our time sewing and fixing things up. The sound of the machine is a constant backdrop to our day. We have a couple of mirrors for people to check their fit, but they are a bit old and have some spots on them. We don't have a big team or a lot of space, so we have to keep moving things around to make room for new projects. The light inside isn’t the best, so we often have to lean close to the window to see the fine stitching. People from the local Guru Nanak Nagar area come to us when they need something mended or made to their size. We don't do any big advertising; we just rely on people seeing our sign and coming in. It’s a lot of work on the eyes and the hands, but we’ve been doing it at this spot for years. The shop is a bit cluttered with thread and needles, but it feels like a real place where things are actually made by hand.
