If you find yourself at the World Trade Centre in Cuffe Parade, you might see us at Shop Number 22. We’re located in the Crush Hall area, which usually has a lot of people passing through for various exhibitions or business meetings. It’s a very different vibe from the busy markets in the rest of Mumbai. It’s more climate-controlled and professional, I suppose, but our shop is still just a small local spot. We’ve been here for years, watching the different events come and go. We sell jewelry and art pieces, and a lot of our regulars are people who work in the nearby offices or live in the tall buildings around Cuffe Parade. They stop in to see what’s new or just to chat while they wait for someone. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases because fingerprints show up so easily under the bright shop lights. It’s a bit of a quiet existence most days, except when there’s a big trade fair happening downstairs. Then it gets really hectic and we barely have time to eat lunch. We don't do any big advertising; we just rely on people seeing us when they walk by. It’s a nice place to work, even if the commute into this part of the city can be a bit of a nightmare during the monsoon rains. We just keep the shop tidy and wait for customers.
