Jeddah Store

Jeddah Store is located at No. 49 Madha Mansion on Mohammed Ali Road. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded this area gets. We are right opposite Baig Mohd Baug and very close to the Minara Masjid. The shop is quite small and we have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a squeeze when there are more than two customers inside. We sell all sorts of things that people in the neighborhood need. I’ve been sitting at this counter for many years, just like my father did before me. The building is old and the wooden floorboards creak when you walk on them. We don't have any of those bright neon signs or fancy displays. Just simple tube lights and the goods laid out where people can see them. During the festival months, the whole area stays awake all night and the smell of food from the stalls outside is everywhere. It’s a very lively place to be. Sometimes it gets so noisy that we have to shout to be heard over the traffic and the people outside. We know most of our regular customers by their names. They stop by to pick up what they need and usually stay for a quick chat about the weather or the local news. It’s a humble shop, nothing special to look at from the outside, but it’s been part of this street for a long time. We just keep doing what we do.
