Jay Shree

You can find Jay Shree over in Byculla, right at the Bmc Chol on Sheikh Hafeez Marg. We are very close to the BMC Office and the Fire Brigade Head Office, so there is always the sound of sirens or city workers nearby. It is a very old part of Mumbai, and our shop reflects that. It is small and a bit cramped with all the items we keep in stock. We do not really have a big sign or any fancy decorations. Mostly, we just rely on the local people who have been coming to us for years. The shop is a bit dark inside, but we have a couple of bright lights over the counter where we handle the sales. Every morning we sweep the front step and get ready for the day, which usually starts early before the heat gets too bad. We sell various everyday items that people in the chawls need. It is a lot of standing on your feet and talking to customers about their families while they shop. We do not have a computer system or anything like that; we still do most things with a pen and a notebook. It is just the way we have always done it. The area is constantly loud and crowded, but that is just life in Byculla. We are happy to be a small part of the community here.
