Our place is Shop No G 7, right in the Railway Quarters area on Khar Nityanand Road. It is a small space, but we manage to fit everything we need inside. Being so close to the railway quarters means we see a lot of the same faces every single day. Most people stop by while they are on their way to the station or coming back home after work. The shop is simple and we don't have any big signs or bright lights. We just open up early in the morning and stay until the evening rush is over. The road outside can get pretty crowded with people walking and rickshaws zooming past. We spend a lot of our time just tidying the shelves and talking to the regulars who live in the quarters. It is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else's business. We have been here for years and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. Sometimes it gets a bit hot inside during the summer, but we keep the fan going. It is not a complicated way to make a living. We just sell what people need and keep the shop running. There is always a bit of dust from the road, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. It is a quiet life, mostly, just waiting for the next train to bring more people past our door.
