Jagjivanram Hospital

Jagjivanram Hospital is right on Maratha Mandir Road, so we are right in the thick of things in Mumbai Central. If you’ve ever walked past the cinema there, you know how crowded and loud it gets. Our hospital is a busy place because of where it’s located. We get people coming in from the railway station and all the surrounding blocks. It’s a lot of walking back and forth through the hallways every single day. The building has that old Mumbai feel to it, with high ceilings and heavy doors that have seen better days. We don't really have a lot of quiet moments here. There is always a trolley being pushed somewhere or a group of people talking in the lobby. I spend most of my shift just trying to keep things organized while the chaos of the city happens outside. The air always feels a bit humid, and the ceiling fans are constantly spinning. We see all kinds of people, from workers to travelers who just got off a train. It’s not a polished or shiny place, but it’s an important one for this part of town. Sometimes I take a break and just look out at the traffic on Maratha Mandir Road for five minutes before heading back to the wards. It’s a tough job sometimes, but this is just how life is at Jagjivanram Hospital in the heart of Mumbai Central.
