You’ll find our place at Gala No 107 on the first floor over in the Thakka building. We are right in the middle of the old Sabzi Mandi area in Mazgaon. It’s a very busy part of the city, especially early in the mornings when the market is in full swing. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep and narrow, so carrying boxes up and down is quite a workout every day. We’ve been operating out of this gala for a long time now. The walls are thick and stay relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of stock and a small space for me to sit and handle the billing. We don't have much in the way of decoration, just a few calendars on the wall. The sound of the market downstairs is always there, like a constant hum in the background. Dealing with the deliveries is the biggest part of our day. We have to time everything right so the trucks can actually get close to the entrance. It’s a lot of coordination and shouting down to the street sometimes. We aren't a big corporation with departments; it’s just a few of us making sure the orders go out and the inventory stays right. It is a traditional way of doing business and it has worked for us for years.
