Islami Yadgar Family Restaurant

Our little shop is tucked into the ground floor of the Afzal Co Operative Housing Society. Being on Dr A Nair Road means we are right in the middle of everything in Mumbai Central. It is always crowded outside, especially with the Nair Hospital being so close and people coming and going from the station. We see a lot of families who are visiting patients or just getting off a long train ride. Across from us is the Maratha Mandir, which is a big landmark for everyone around here. We have been serving food at Islami Yadgar for a good while now. It is a family-run kind of place, so there is no corporate hierarchy or anything like that. We just cook and serve. The kitchen gets hot, and the space is a bit tight, but that is just how it is in Mumbai. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or shiny signs. Most people find us because they are walking by or they live in the building above. Dealing with the 400008 humidity is a daily task, and we try to keep the place as comfortable as we can. It is simple work, really. We open up early, get the ingredients ready, and wait for the lunch rush. It is a busy life, but it is what we know. There is always someone new to talk to, and we like hearing the stories of people passing through Mumbai Central. We just keep our heads down and cook.
