Iris Fashion

We are located at Plot No. 17, up on the first floor. It’s right behind the J. K. Industrial Estate, very close to the bus depot in Shastri Nagar, Santacruz West. Being near the bus depot means there is always a lot of movement and noise outside, but once you get upstairs to Iris Fashion, it’s a bit more focused. We’ve been in this part of Santacruz for a while now. The space is mostly filled with fabric rolls and sewing stations. We make different kinds of ladies' fashion items. It’s a lot of work getting the patterns right and then making sure the tailors understand what needs to be done. We don't have any fancy marketing people or a big sales team. It’s just us and the machines. Sometimes the rain in Mumbai makes things difficult, especially getting materials delivered to the industrial estate area, but we manage. We have a small group of people who do the cutting and another group that handles the finishing. My desk is usually covered in scraps of paper and thread. It’s a bit messy, but we know where everything is. We just focus on the orders we have for the week and try to get them finished. It’s a regular job for us, nothing too complicated. We’ve seen the area change around the bus depot, but our little floor stays pretty much the same.
