Inra Engineering Works

Inra Engineering Works is located at 199 Khuddus Compound, which is right off the Kurla-Andheri Road in Sakinaka. If you’ve ever been to this area, you know the traffic is constant and the noise never really stops. Our workshop is near M.K. Brothers, and it’s a typical industrial space with high ceilings and plenty of shadows. The air always smells a bit like welding sparks and old grease. We have a lot of heavy machinery crammed into the compound, and sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze to get a big project through the doors. We don't put much stock in appearances here. The walls haven't been painted in years, and there are stacks of metal tubes and plates in almost every corner. Most of our day is spent bent over a machine or checking measurements on a greasy notepad. It’s hard work and it makes your back ache by five o'clock, but it’s what we know how to do. We take our breaks sitting on whatever crates are empty at the time, usually drinking water from a big plastic cooler. Sakinaka is a tough place to work because of the heat and the dust, but there’s a lot of energy in this compound. Everyone is busy fixing or making something. We just keep our heads down and try to keep up with the pace of the neighborhood. It’s a no-nonsense kind of life.
