Being located at No 719, right by Gate No 4 of the Vishwakarma M D Lotlikar Vidya Sankul, keeps us right in the middle of everything in Bandra West. It’s a busy part of Mumbai, especially on Sri Krishnachand Marg. You can hear the traffic and the city life buzzing all day long. The building is quite big, but inside it’s mostly just rows of offices and rooms where people are working or studying. We see a lot of people coming in and out every day. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes if you’re not used to the layout. The staff here has been around for years, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. We don’t really do anything flashy. Most of our time goes into managing the schedules and making sure the research projects are moving along. The rainy season is always a challenge with the leaks and the dampness that comes with being in Mumbai. We just deal with it. Our desks are usually covered in papers and folders. It’s a serious place, but we have our moments of quiet when the students are away. It’s not like those corporate offices you see on TV. It’s a bit more worn in and lived in. We have our coffee breaks and talk about the local news. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to get things done without too much fuss or extra noise from the outside world.
