Hotel Sawali

Hotel Sawali is on S G Barve Marg in Kurla East. We have two shop units, 125 and 126, which give us a bit more room. It is a small place to eat, even though the name says "Hotel". Most people know us for basic meals like thali, rice, and different vegetable dishes. I handle the cash and my partner takes care of the kitchen. We get a lot of workers from nearby businesses during the lunch hour. It is fast and loud during that time. The chairs are plastic and the tables are easy to wipe down. We do not have a menu card, just a board with the prices written in chalk. They change sometimes depending on what the vegetables cost at the market that day. Dealing with the Kurla traffic is the hardest part. The dust comes inside no matter how much we clean. I have been working here for a long time. My back hurts at the end of the shift, but that is part of the job. We keep a big water cooler in the corner for everyone to use. In the evenings, it is mostly tea and snacks for people headed home. The lighting is not very bright, but it is enough to see. We do not do any delivery, so you have to come and eat here. It is just a place to get a hot meal.
