Hotel Harbour View

Our place is right there on P J Ramchandani Marg. The sea is across the road, and you can smell the salt in the air most days. We spend a lot of time cleaning the windows because of the breeze and the spray from the water. It’s an old building, so things creak sometimes when people walk down the halls. The lobby isn't huge, but we make do with what we have. It’s enough. People come in from the Gateway of India area, looking tired and carrying heavy bags. We just give them the key and point the way to the lift. Sometimes the lift is slow, and we tell folks to just wait a minute while it makes its way down. It’s mostly about keeping the rooms tidy and making sure the water is hot in the mornings for the showers. Mumbai is loud, especially down here in Colaba, but inside it’s okay for sleeping. We’ve been here at number 25 for a long time now. You see the same faces often, which is nice for us. Our staff mostly live nearby or take the train in from further out. It’s a lot of work running a place like this in such a busy part of the city. We don't have fancy stuff, just the basics like beds and some chairs. The view is why most people show up, honestly. You can see the boats and the way the light hits the water. It’s just how things are here.
