Hotel Durga

Hotel Durga is right on the ground floor on Church Road. It's part of the Mahakali area, so things are always moving very fast around here in Andheri. We have number 5 on the road. It isn't a huge place, just a few rooms and a small desk where I sit most of the day. Mumbai is a very crowded city, and our little corner is no different. We get a lot of people coming in from the nearby offices or people visiting the church down the way. We don't have a big mission statement or any of that. We just keep the doors open and the rooms clean for whoever needs them. The floor is easy to wash, which is good because people bring in a lot of dirt and rain from the street. I remember when we first started, the walls were a completely different color. Now we just keep it simple with plain white paint. My nephew helps me with the bookings on the weekends when it gets a bit more hectic. We don't use any special software, just a big notebook and some blue pens. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud you can't even hear the person standing next to you. But that’s just Mahakali Road for you. We provide a place to sit or sleep for a bit. It’s a practical business. We don't pretend to be more than what we are. It’s just a hotel for regular folks.
