HINDUSTAN SHOT BLASTING

You’ll find HINDUSTAN SHOT BLASTING inside the Bmk Compound, which is tucked behind Wadia Estate in the Bal Bazar area of Kurla. If you know Mumbai, you know Kurla is always moving and always loud. Our workshop is in a bit of a hidden spot, but the noise of the shot blasting machines usually gives us away. It’s a dusty job, there’s no way around that. We spend most of our time in our work clothes, covered in a bit of grit from the machines. The compound is shared with a few other businesses, so there’s always people walking around and trucks trying to navigate the narrow lanes. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes. We’ve been in this Bal Bazar area for a long time. The building itself is old, with high ceilings and heavy metal doors that we slide open every morning at eight. We don't have air conditioning or anything, just a few big industrial fans to keep the air moving while we work. It gets really hot in the summer, but the crew is used to it. We take our breaks together and talk about the news or whatever is happening in the estate. We don't do anything fancy, we just focus on the metal parts that come through our doors. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do. The location works well for getting things moved across the city eventually.
