Hemant Dye Chem Industries

Our office is located on the second floor of a building on Serpentine Road in the Masjid area. Hemant Dye Chem Industries has been in this spot for quite some time. Getting up to Office No 204 involves a bit of a walk up the stairs, and the building has that old Mumbai feel to it. We deal with dyes and chemicals, which means our desks are usually covered in sample charts and order forms. It’s not a factory; it’s more of the administrative side where we handle the buying and selling. The streets outside in Masjid are always crowded with carts and trucks, so there’s a constant noise coming through the windows. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing out invoices by hand. It’s a small operation. We have a few cupboards filled with samples of different colors, but mostly it is files and ledgers. We don’t have a website that looks like it belongs to a big tech company. We just do our work and keep track of the shipments. Sometimes the electricity flickers when it rains hard, but we just keep going. It’s a traditional way of doing business. We know our suppliers well and we’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, even if our office stays pretty much the same. We take our time to get things right.
