Working at the Heavy Water Board means spending a lot of time in Anushakti Nagar. We are part of the Department of Atomic Energy, located on the 5th floor of Vikram Sarabhai Bhavan. It’s a government building near the Government of India offices, so things are pretty official around here. You have to go through security and all that just to get to the desk. The view from the 5th floor isn't bad, though you mostly just see other buildings and the trees around the complex. It’s a quiet place to work compared to the rest of the city. We spend our days dealing with a lot of paperwork and files. It’s not the kind of place where things happen fast, but we keep moving through the tasks one by one. The building is quite large, and sometimes it feels like a maze if you aren’t used to it. Most of us have been here for years, so we know all the shortcuts and where to get the best tea nearby. It’s a very steady environment. We don’t really have customers in the traditional sense; it’s more about the internal work of the department. We just show up, do our hours, and head home. It feels like being part of a very large machine that’s always humming in the background. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of office where everyone knows their job and just gets on with it.
