Hari Express

Hari Express operates out of Shop Number 18 on the ground floor of the Gopal building in Kalbadevi. If you know Kalbadevi, you know how packed the streets are with people and carts. Our shop is right in the middle of all that noise and movement every day. It’s a small place, mostly filled with boxes and parcels waiting to be sent out to different places. We don’t have much room for people to sit down, so most of our customers just stand at the wooden counter while we weigh their stuff. I’ve been here for years, and the daily routine is always the same. We take in the packages, write out the slips by hand, and get them ready for the evening pickups. It’s a lot of manual work and standing on your feet. My hands are usually covered in tape or ink by the end of the day. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anything fancy like that. People come to us because we’ve been in the same spot for a long time and they know our faces. The building is old and the lanes are very narrow, so getting the bigger delivery vans in can be a real struggle sometimes. It’s a typical Kalbadevi business. We work long hours, especially during the festival seasons when everyone is sending gifts. It’s just me and a couple of boys handling everything.
