Gurudev Dye-Chem Private Limited

Gurudev Dye-Chem Private Limited is based out of Sai Sadan in Tembipada, over in Bhandup. Specifically, we’re at 2/9 in the Waghmare Chawl area. It’s a very local, working-class neighborhood. You won’t find any glass skyscrapers here. Our office is tucked away in the wadi, and it’s a bit of a maze if you don’t know the way. We handle dyes and chemicals, so there’s always a specific smell around the place. It’s been our home for a long time. The space is small and we’ve squeezed in everything we need. Boxes are usually stacked up to the ceiling. It can get pretty humid in the summer, but we keep the fans going. Our neighbors are families and other small businesses. We’ve grown up in this part of Mumbai, so we don't feel the need for a fancy address. The work we do is messy and hands-on. We spend our days mixing things and checking orders. It’s a lot of manual labor and keeping track of containers. Sometimes the water supply is a bit irregular, but that’s just life in a chawl. We don't have any glossy brochures. People find us by word of mouth or because they’ve known us for years. It’s a simple operation, run by people who know the trade inside out. We just keep our heads down and do the work right here in Bhandup. It is a long day every day, but we like it.
