Our place is located down Marve Road in Malad West, right across from the Akashwani Kendra. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you’re coming from the main city, but that’s actually why people seem to like it. It’s a bit quieter than the rest of Mumbai. We’ve got some space here, and we spend a lot of our time looking after the grounds. The grass needs cutting and the pool needs cleaning, and there is always something that needs fixing in one of the rooms. We aren’t a fancy five-star place with people in suits everywhere. We’re just a resort where families come to let their kids run around for a bit. Our staff mostly lives nearby, and we’ve been working together for a long time. We know which rooms get the best light and which ones stay the coolest in the afternoon. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other days it’s completely silent. We just take it as it comes. On the weekends, it gets pretty loud with weddings or birthday parties, and we’re all on our feet until late at night. It’s a lot of hard work, but we like seeing the place full. We just keep things running as best as we can and hope people have a decent time while they are here.
