Lotus Holidays

I spend most of my day here at No. 67-A Hem Villa, which is on the second floor. Being right opposite the Goregaon West railway station and the bus depot means it is never quiet. You can hear the conductors shouting and the trains rattling all day long. Lotus Holidays is just a small office with a couple of desks and some old maps on the wall. We help people figure out where they want to go for their breaks, mostly just booking tickets or finding hotels that aren't too expensive for them. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit narrow and steep, so I usually tell people to watch their step. I have a small fan on my desk that barely works, but it’s better than nothing when the Mumbai humidity hits. Most of our customers are locals who are heading home from the station and just pop in to ask a quick question about train timings or holiday packages they saw mentioned somewhere. I usually have a stack of brochures on the table, though they get dog-eared and messy pretty fast. We don't really have a big team, just me and a girl who handles the phone calls. Sometimes the internet goes down when it rains heavily, and we just have to wait it out with a cup of tea. It is a hectic spot to work in, but I like being in the middle of all that Goregaon energy.
