Geeta Uphar Gruh

We are located inside the Jai Bharat Industrial Estate in Goregaon East, right near Dindoshi Village. If you come looking for Geeta Uphar Gruh, you’ll see we are in building nineteen. Being in an industrial estate means our schedule is tied to the factory whistles. We open up before the first shift starts because the workers need their tea and breakfast. The furniture is all heavy-duty because it gets a lot of use every single day. We don't use fancy plates, just the standard stainless steel ones that are easy to wash and don't break. The kitchen is basic but we keep it busy from dawn until late afternoon. You won’t find any decorations on the walls, just the menu board and maybe a calendar with pictures of gods. The air is often thick with the smell of frying onions and mustard seeds. Most of our customers are the guys who work in the garment units or the small workshops nearby. They don't have much time for lunch, so we have to be fast. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when fifty people show up at the same time, but we manage. We’ve been in this spot for years and the neighborhood has changed around us, but the estate stays pretty much the same. It’s a lot of hard work and the floor gets greasy by the end of the day, so we spend a lot of time scrubbing it down.
