We supply them to tailors and small garment makers who work nearby. People come in looking for a specific match for a jacket or a bag they are fixing. It’s a lot of looking through drawers and matching shades. We’ve been here for a long time. The chawl has its own rhythm and it gets noisy. We know our neighbors well. It’s not a high-tech business. It’s about having what people need when they need it. Sometimes a machine breaks and we have to fix the teeth on a zipper by hand. It takes patience and good eyesight. We don't have a big marketing plan or a website. People just know we are here on Gaondevi Road. We open early and stay until the evening. The work is repetitive but it’s steady. We see a lot of different people every day. Some are regular customers from the shops around, some are just passing through. We just keep the stock ready and help whoever walks through the door. It’s a simple life in a busy neighborhood. We’re happy with how things are going here in Ghatkopar.
