Ganesh Telecom

Ganesh Telecom is right here in Goregaon East at Pant Nagar 1. It’s a small corner spot that I’ve been running for a few years. Most of my day involves selling SIM cards or helping people figure out why their data isn't working. The counter is glass and has a few scratches from all the phones people slide across it. I have a display of phone cases on the wall, but they're starting to look a bit old-fashioned. The fan overhead wobbles a little when I turn it on high. People from the nearby apartments stop by on their way home from work. We talk about the local news or the price of vegetables. It’s a tight space, so if more than two people are inside, someone usually has to wait on the sidewalk. I keep my tools in a blue plastic bin under the counter. Sometimes I’m working on a screen replacement and I have to ask people to wait a minute while I finish a delicate part. My chair is an old plastic one that creaks every time I move. I don't have a computer system to track everything; I just use a diary and a pen. It works well enough for me. Goregaon is a busy place and being at Pant Nagar means there’s always someone passing by. I just keep the shop open and see who comes in to get their phone fixed or balanced. We stay until the street lights come on.
