Our place is located at 107 Adhyaru Industrial Estate, which is right in the Sunmil Compound area of Lower Parel West. This part of Mumbai used to be all mills, and you can still feel that history even though there are fancy malls and offices everywhere now. Fortune Gourmest Specialities Pvt. Ltd. is on the traditional side of things in this industrial estate. Dealing with gourmet specialties means we are always surrounded by talk of food and ingredients. It’s a busy office. There’s always someone on the phone with a supplier or checking on a shipment coming into the port. The compound can get really cramped with cars and tempos, so getting in and out requires a bit of patience. We aren't a big corporate kitchen; we’re more of the brains and the logistics behind the food. The building is one of those classic Mumbai structures where the walls are thick and the stairs are narrow. We have a lot of samples coming in, so the office often smells like different spices or chocolates, which is a nice change from the city exhaust outside. Our team is a mix of people who really know their food and people who just know how to move boxes. We don’t do big fancy presentations. We just get the specialty items to where they need to go. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, especially during the festival seasons.
