Farzana Kazi

This is Farzana Kazi and I am located at Bit Chawl Number 1. If you go up to the third floor and look for Room Number 116, you will find us. We are right on I R Road, which is very close to J.J. Hospital in Mumbai. This part of the city never really goes to sleep, and there is always a crowd of people outside the windows. Living and working in a chawl means you are always close to your neighbors, which I think is a good thing. We don't have a big sign outside or a fancy lobby to greet people. You just walk up the stairs and knock on the door. Inside, the room is filled with everything we need to do our daily work. It can get a bit hot during the afternoons, but we have a good fan that keeps the air moving. We aren't trying to be some massive company that operates across the whole country. We just want to do right by the people who come to see us here in the neighborhood. Most of our regulars are people from the hospital or folks who have lived in the chawl for generations. We don't have any polished sales pitches or corporate goals. We just take each day as it comes and try to be as helpful as we can to whoever stops by. It’s a busy, noisy life, but it is our life and we like it.
