Essjay Traders is tucked away in Patel Nagar, over in Kandivali West. If you know the area near Pimple Gurav, you probably know the Shamrao Vithal Bank; we are right near there. It’s a convenient spot because everyone knows the bank. Our place is mostly filled with boxes and crates since we do a lot of trading. It’s not a showroom where everything is on display for looking at; it’s more of a working warehouse where stuff comes in and goes out pretty fast. The floor is concrete and we’ve got metal shelving units lining the walls. Usually, there’s a delivery truck parked out front or someone loading up a small van. It gets a bit hectic on Monday mornings when the new stock arrives. I spend a lot of time with a clipboard checking off items and making sure nothing got damaged in transit. The neighborhood is a mix of houses and small businesses, so it feels like a real community. People stop by to ask about prices or just to say hello while they’re heading to the bank. It can get dusty with all the cardboard moving around, but that’s just part of the job. We keep a small desk in the corner for the paperwork and the computer, though it’s usually covered in notes and pens. It’s a practical space for a practical business. We just try to keep things moving along smoothly every day and make sure the deliveries are on time.
