Esi Hospital

Working at Esi Hospital in MIDC Andheri East is always an experience because this part of Mumbai never really stops moving. Being right in the middle of Andheri East means we get all kinds of people coming in from the industrial units nearby. The noise from the traffic outside usually drifts into the lobby, which can be a bit distracting when you are trying to talk to someone at the front desk. We have a small crew here and we all do a bit of everything, from filing papers to showing people where they need to go. It isn't like those big private hospitals you see on TV; it is more of a practical place for the workers who live and work around MIDC. The halls are narrow and sometimes the fans don't spin as fast as we'd like on a hot afternoon, but we make do with what we have. Most days are just about handling the flow of people and making sure their records are updated in the system. It can be a bit chaotic on Monday mornings when everyone shows up at once, but by the afternoon it usually settles down into a rhythm. We don't spend much time talking about big goals or anything like that, we just focus on the patient standing right in front of us. It is hard work but it feels okay at the end of the day when we close up and head home for some rest.
