90 Feet Road is never quiet. We are right there by Uma Hospital and across from Gajanan Society. It is a busy part of Andheri East. Most days start early before the sun is even fully up because the trucks need to move. Economic Transports Organisation Ltd has been in this spot for quite some time now. The office is small and usually filled with stacks of logbooks and the smell of old paper. We don't have fancy air conditioning that works all the time, so the windows stay open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. You can hear the horns honking all day long. It's just a few of us here handling the bookings and making sure the drivers know where they are going. We drink a lot of chai from the guy downstairs. Life here is mostly about schedules and making sure the cargo is packed right. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is what we do. Sometimes the rain makes the road a mess, and everything slows down, which is frustrating but you get used to it. We just keep things moving as best as we can. Our desks are a bit cluttered with pens that barely work and dusty clipboards. It’s a real place with real people trying to get through the workday. Sometimes a driver comes in with a joke, or we just sit in silence while the fans hum overhead. That’s about all there is to us, really.
