Dr Kamats Hospital

Dr Kamats Hospital is right near the Jogeshwari railway station in Mumbai. Being in Jogeshwari East, especially so close to the station, means it’s always loud and crowded outside. You can hear the trains passing and the crowds on the platform. We’ve been at this spot for years. It’s a convenient place for people to stop by on their way home from work or if they live in the nearby chawls and apartments. Inside, we try to keep things as orderly as possible, which is a challenge given how many people come through the door. The space is used efficiently because square footage is tight in this part of Mumbai. We have our consultation rooms and the beds for patients who need to stay over. The staff here is used to the hustle. We don't spend money on fancy signs or decor. It’s a practical medical facility. People come here because they know we’re accessible and we’ve been around a long time. Sometimes the waiting area gets really cramped, but everyone just makes room. We deal with all sorts of medical issues day and night. It’s just the reality of running a hospital in such a busy part of the city. We keep the doors open and do the work. The elevators are old but they work, and the nurses are always busy checking charts. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We’ve become a landmark for people getting off the train at Jogeshwari station.
