Discover Diamonds

Our shop is over in Malad East, right in Pushpa Park on Daftary Road. It’s Shop Number 4 in Baburao Chawl. It is a small space, but we have been working out of here for quite some time now. Most people in the neighborhood know where we are because we’ve stayed in the same spot while other shops have changed names or closed down. Daftary Road gets pretty busy in the evenings with people coming home from the station. We spend a lot of our time looking at small details and talking to the people who walk in. It’s not a big corporate showroom with bright lights and fancy carpets. It’s more of a local spot where we sit on the stools and do our work. Sometimes the rain makes it a bit noisy on the roof, but that’s just how it is in this part of Mumbai. We keep the shutters open during the day to let some air in. Dealing with diamonds is mostly about patience and having a good eye, so we try not to rush things. We have a few regular customers who stop by just to say hello or ask a quick question. It’s a simple setup. We keep our tools on the workbench and the safe stays tucked away. It’s a quiet way to earn a living, even if the street outside is always moving. We close up when the sun goes down and the street lights come on.
