Dinesh Roadlines

Dinesh Roadlines is based out of 118 Bhat Bazar, inside the New Anant Bhavan building. Bhat Bazar is a very hectic place, especially when the trucks are trying to move through the narrow lanes. We’ve been here for a long time. Our office is mostly just a place to keep the registers and talk to the drivers. There’s always someone coming in to drop off a delivery note or pick up a cheque. The walls are a bit yellowed from the age of the building. We have a couple of ceiling fans that make a clicking noise, but they keep the air moving. Transport is a tough business. You have to worry about the weather, the fuel prices, and whether a truck has a flat tire somewhere far away. We spend a lot of time on the landline and our mobiles. My father started this with just one truck, and we’ve just kept it going. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where to find us in New Anant Bhavan. We know the porters and the other shopkeepers in the bazaar. It’s a community. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk about the old times, but most days it’s just a rush to get the goods loaded and on the road before the city traffic gets too bad. It is hard work but it pays the bills.
