Dadar West is never really quiet, is it? We are located in Room No 43 on the ground floor of the building. Being at ground level is a bit of a blessing when you’re moving chemical supplies around, because nobody wants to be hauling that stuff up three flights of stairs in this humidity. Dev Pharma chemical is a small operation, but we stay quite occupied. The room is filled with the kind of stuff you’d expect—jars, containers, and that faint medicinal smell that sticks to your clothes by the end of the shift. We aren’t big on decorations or making things look pretty. It’s a workplace, plain and simple. Outside the building, the streets are always packed with people heading toward the station or the market, so there’s a constant hum of activity that filters through the door. Sometimes it’s hard to hear yourself think over the horns and the shouting, but you get used to the noise after a few days. We mostly just keep our heads down and get through the list of what needs to be delivered or packed. It’s a tight space, so everything has its specific corner. If one thing gets moved out of place, the whole system feels off. We just try to keep it orderly and keep the wheels turning day by day, year after year, without too much fuss. It’s not always easy in this heat, but we make do with what we have and stay busy.
