Our office is on the third floor of Modi House, over in Fort. It’s 10th B, and we are right near Bora Bazar. If you know the Fort area, you know how narrow the streets are and how many people are always rushing around with papers. Being on the third floor means a lot of stairs, which isn't always fun when it's humid outside. We handle shipping agency work, so there is a lot of paperwork, stamps, and phone calls to different ports. The office is full of old files and the sound of fans whirring. It has that old Mumbai feel to it. We aren't some big modern firm with glass walls. We are just a small team in an old building doing our work. Outside, Bora Bazar is always loud with traders and shoppers. It can be hard to hear yourself think sometimes. We’ve been in Modi House for a long time now. We know the rhythms of the area, like when the tea man comes by or when the courier arrives. It is a busy life but we are used to it. We don't have a fancy website or marketing, we just deal with the clients we have and keep the shipments moving. It’s straightforward, old-fashioned work that requires a lot of attention to detail. We just show up, do the filing, talk to the customs people, and head home. The breeze from the window is nice in the late afternoon.
