Mahudi Designer is tucked away in the Kasturchand Mill Compound, which is right behind the Laxmi Commercial Complex in Dadar West. If you have ever tried to navigate Senapati Bapat Marg, you know how hectic it can be out there. Our workspace at C-7b is where all the actual work happens. It is not a fancy boutique with air conditioning and soft music. Instead, you will find rolls of cloth, threads of every color, and the constant hum of sewing machines. We spend our days cutting patterns and making sure the seams are straight. A few of us have been working here for years, so we have gotten used to the rhythm of the place. It is a bit cramped sometimes when we have a lot of orders coming in, but we make it work somehow. We deal with all sorts of fabrics and styles. Most of the time, we are just focused on finishing the current batch of clothes so we can move on to the next one. Being in Dadar means we are right in the middle of everything, which is handy for getting supplies. We are not flashy people. We just care about the work we put out and making sure it is done correctly. It is a practical business. We show up, we do the sewing, and we go home. That is how it has always been for us at the mill compound. We just take things one day at a time.
