If you are looking for Momay Art you have to go behind Kishor Saree on Dada Saheb Phalke Road in Hindmata. It is tucked away in Rangari Masjid Chawl, specifically Room Number 7 in 158/B. It’s a bit of a maze back there if you aren't familiar with Dadar East. The area is always crowded with people shopping for clothes and the smells from the street food stalls are everywhere. We do our art work in this small space. It is not a gallery with white walls and bright lights. It is more of a workshop where things actually get made. There is usually paint on the floor and scraps of material on the tables. My hands are almost always stained with something by the end of the shift. We have been in this chawl for a long time and the neighbors are like family. We hear everything that happens in the lane. It gets hot in the summer because the ceiling is low but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. People usually find us by word of mouth because we are so hidden away behind the saree shop. It is a busy part of town and there is never a quiet moment. We just keep working on our designs and try to get things finished on time. It is a simple life doing what we know how to do best in this little corner of Dadar. We don't have much room but we make it work somehow.
