Our business, D L Gandhi & Sons, has been at 357 Masjid Lane for a very long time. We are part of the Ghanshyam Nagar Society. It is a quiet enough lane most of the time, tucked away from the main road. The shop is filled with things we’ve collected and sold over the years. It’s a family-run place, so you’ll usually see one of the sons or the older generation behind the counter. We don't have a polished showroom or a sales pitch. We just talk to the people who walk through the door like neighbors. 357 Masjid Lane is where we grew up and where we learned the trade. The walls are a bit worn and the shelves are old, but everything has its place. Being in Ghanshyam Nagar Society means we know almost everyone on the street. We deal with all sorts of items depending on what people are looking for. There isn't a big corporate structure here. If there is a problem, we just sit down and fix it. We don't believe in using big words to describe what we do. It’s just a shop where we try to be fair and helpful. The days are long, but we like the routine of opening the shutters every morning. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but our little spot in the lane stays pretty much the same as it always was.
